Institutional accreditation at North Park University is provided by the Higher Learning Commission (HCL), a member of the North Central Association (NCA).
North Park University was first accredited by the Higher Learning Commission in 1926. The Commission is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) which is responsible for ensuring accrediting bodies and institutions uphold and meet the establish standards of quality. The accrediting process requires the preparation of an institutional report — a self-study. North Park University continues to be actively engaged in the self-study process. The University hosted a team of Consultant Evaluators from the Higher Learning Commission November 15–17, 2010, who conducted a comprehensive site vist. The Commission evaluates and accredits the entire institution as a whole.
The Commission provides two programs for maintaining an institution’s accreditation status. The first method can be obtained through a Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ) and the second method is the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). North Park University is completing the (PEAQ) review process. The Association can be researched on their website or reached by mail at:
