Beginning Business Research
Starting Business Research: Finding Books
For students taking classes on campus at North Park University, the easiest way to start finding books is to search the library catalog. (Get help searching the online catalog.) Often, a subject search will give you more focused information on a topic. To perform a subject search, type a word into the catalog, and then select "Subject" in the box to the right.
Sample subject terms in the area of business:
- Economics
- Management
- Accounting
Many books on this subject can be found on the second floor of the library, but other subject areas will also be helpful.
Starting Business Research: Finding Database Articles
Begin by searching the list of databases in your subject area.
- Business Source Complete: Scholarly business database containing full-text journals, industry and country reports, SWOT analyses, etc.
- Chronicle of Philanthropy: Nonprofit news and research; includes full-text of the current Chronicle of Philanthropy back through October 1997.
- Hoover's Online Business; full-text company information.
- Communication and Mass Media Complete has a lot of advertising and marketing articles that are worth checking out.
- Lexis-Nexis Academic News, legal, business, medicine, full-text information. Includes New York Times and other major newspapers full-text.
