Using the Curriculum Center

Finding the Curriculum Center:

The curriculum center is located on the second floor of the Brandel Library.  Look at a map of the curriculum center.

Only North Park University students, faculty, and staff may check out items in the curriculum center.

Available Resources

Textbooks

Elementary and secondary textbooks are shelved together under the subject area.

Teacher's Resources

Practical, hands-on ideas, such as games and projects, for use in the classroom.

Curriculum Guides

Curriculum Guides contain educational objectives and teaching strategies for all subject areas and grade levels.  This section also contains our colleciton of the national standards for various subject areas.  We have a subscription to the online Kraus Curriculum Development Library (KCDL), which is a collection of curriculum guides arranged by subject areas and grade levels.  To use this, go to the library website and click on Databases and Online Resources.

Fiction

Fiction is arranged by call number.  To find a particular book you will need to look it up on the catalog by author and title.  The Caldecott award winning books are shelved together by year of award under the call number PN 3448 .C36.  The Newberry Medal books are shelved under PN 3448 .N38.  Use the Novelist database to help find titles of books on a certain topic or for a specific age group.

Nonfiction

These materials are considered supplementary to textbooks and include such books as biographies, specialized histories, and guides to various subjects.

Computer Software Programs

There are two PCs in the lab: one PC and one Apple. The curriculum software has been loaded onto the PCs, but you will need to get the disk from its box to run the program.

You can also use the regular education research guide to help you with your work.
