Finding Database Articles:

Databases are an excellent source of current information on global slavery.  The following is a list of some useful databases accessible to North Park students.  Most will include articles from scholarly journals and popular news magazines.  Many articles will be available full-text on and off campus. Find a list of all library databases on the Databases and Online Resources page.

Academic Search Premier is an interdisciplinary database of popular and scholarly articles.

Lexis Nexis is a database which includes full-text for local, national, and international newspapers, including The New York Times.  It also contains legal news and court documents.

JSTOR is a database of entirely full-text scholarly articles.  Access goes back to the first issue of each journal--sometimes as far back as the 1800's--but the most recent years are not included.

Project Muse is a full-text database of scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences.  Current years are included.

ATLA Religion Database indexes articles, book reviews, and chapters in books (essays).  Contains some full-text articles.

CQ Researcher offers full-text reports of current issues.  Good for an overview of a controversial issue.

SAGE e-Reference Books allows you to search all or limit to a specific subject area.  These will be good for overviews of a topic.

Helpful Webpages:

Websites can be unreliable because anyone can create them, regardless of their authority on the subject matter.  When writing a research paper, the use of websites should be kept to a minimum and limited to those sponsored by well-known authorities or organizations.  Always check with your professor to find out if s/he allows the use of websites.
