Welcome to North Park University’s Helwig Recreation Center. This incredible facility offers students, faculty, and staff opportunities for sport, recreation, fitness, and wellness. The 68,000 square-foot Helwig Recreation Center includes a 200 meter two-lane indoor running track, batting cages, two basketball/three volleyball courts, a 35-yard turf surface, a climbing wall, a two-level fitness area, classrooms, and offices. We are excited about what we can offer you and hope you will take full advantage of all the recreational opportunities available to you at North Park University. The Helwig Recreation Center seeks to complement the academic goals of the University by encouraging the physical, emotional, and social growth of students, faculty, and staff at North Park University.

How do I access Helwig Recreation Center?

  • You must have a current and valid NPU ID to access Helwig Recreation Center.
  • All students, faculty and staff must sign a Helwig Release form online once per year. Access to Helwig will not be granted until the online release form has been signed. To sign the electronic waiver and release:
    • Log into the NPYou webpage.
    • Click on, “release information” on the left hand side of the page and follow the directions.
    • Read and sign the Helwig Release and Emergency Contact Release.  

    Helwig ID Hints

    • Do not give your NPU ID to another person so they may access Helwig Recreation Center.
    • Do not use a false NPU ID to access Helwig Recreation Center.
    • Misuse of your NPU ID could result in loss of privledges at Helwig Recreation Center.
    • Do not bend or crack your NPU ID as this makes it inactive.  Inactive IDs will not be accepted at Helwig Recreation Center.
    • If your ID isn't working properly it is your responsibility to have it fixed at student services.
