Endowed and Special Gifts
There is no greater way to uphold the future of North Park University than by providing endowment support. Establishment of an endowed scholarship, professorship, chair or lectureship at North Park University will exist in perpetuity to provide financial assistance and spiritual encouragement to future generations of worthy students and faculty:
Endowed Scholarships
- A gift of $25,000 or more, or gifts totaling $25,000, will create a named, endowed scholarship that will distribute student aid annually.
- The principal of the fund will remain intact and will be invested with North Park University's investment pool. A set percentage of the interest returned on the investment will be expended for the scholarship. The balance of the interest will be returned to help grow the principal-therefore insuring that over time both the fund, and the amount of interest spun off as a scholarship, will continue to grow.
- Each year a scholarship dinner is held which provides an occasion for donors to meet and interact with the students they've assisted, and in turn, students are afforded the opportunity to express their gratitude.
Endowed Professorships
Endowed professorships are honors North Park University bestows upon leading members of our faculty. Endowed professorships draw top quality professors and highlight our values. They prove a tremendous advantage in our efforts to compete for highly visible leaders as well as young faculty with potential.
- A gift of $1.2 million will fully fund a named, endowed professorship in recognition of professorial excellence. A minimum gift of $900,000 will be accepted to create an endowed professorship; however, no appointment of the professor holder will occur until the fund reaches $1.2 million. A portion of the fund will be used in support of salary.
- The principal of the fund will remain intact and will be invested with North Park University's investment pool. The balance of the interest will be returned to help grow the principal—therefore insuring that over time both the fund, and the amount of interest spun off as a professorship, will continue to grow.
Endowed Chairs
Endowed chairs are the highest honor that North Park University can bestow upon members of our faculty. Endowed chairs recognize excellence among academic departmental chairs, and celebrate topquality professors and leaders. They prove a tremendous advantage in our efforts to retain our most accomplished faculty leaders.
- A gift of $2 million will fully fund a named, endowed chair in recognition of excellence. A minimum gift of $1.5 million will be accepted to create an endowed chair; however, no appointment of the chair holder will occur until the fund reaches $2 million. A portion of the fund may be used by the appointed chair in support of teaching, salary or research activities.
- The principal of the fund will remain intact and will be invested with North Park University's investment pool. A set percentage of the interest returned on the investment will expended for support of the chair holder. The balance of the interest will be returned to help grow the principal—therefore insuring that over time both the fund, and the amount of interest spun off as a chair, will continue to grow.
Endowed Lecture Series
Lecture series play an important role in the academic life of the campus. They allow faculty and students to interact with distinguished leaders from other communities who engage in meaningful dialogue with our community. In addition to delivering a lecture, speakers are invited to participate in other special activities during their visits to campus which benefit our students, faculty and the lecturer themselves.
- A gift of $100,000 is required to establish an endowed lecture series. The principal of the fund will remain intact and will be invested with North Park University's investment pool. A percentage of the interest returned on the investment equaling $5,000 annually will be expended to fund programming. The balance of the interest will be returned to help grow the principal—therefore insuring that over time both the fund, and the amount of interest spun off in support of the lecture series, will continue to grow.
Capital Gifts
The reality of university life is that advancements in technology, changes in community size, and shifts in campus focus make it necessary to adapt our physical space. Whether by building new buildings or updating existing spaces, there are many opportunities to partner with North Park University by providing essential funding to underwrite the construction and upkeep of campus facilities.
- During a capital campaign or a comprehensive campaign, there are many opportunities for our alumni and friends to provide major gifts to offset the costs of building essential new facilities.
- Depending on the size and designation of a major gift in support of capital improvements, the donor may be recognized in a variety of ways. A plaque may be hung in a highly visible location, reflecting the naming recognition of the donor's choosing, which will celebrate their support. In select cases, outstanding and significant contributions will result in the facility being named in honor of the donor.
