Admission Requirements

Work experience in urban community development, economic development, parish ministry, or business and community affairs is desirable but not mandatory.

Students admitted to the Master of Arts in Community Development program will be required to submit:

North Park University and the MA in Community Development program are fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended

Submit transcripts from all undergraduate universities and colleges. Send undergraduate transcripts to: Chris Nicholson c/o NPU Box 40 MACD

These should be from individuals who can assess academic and/or professional experience. Letters of recommendation can be submitted on the forms provided in the link above, by fax (773) 244-4953, or email to the attention of Chris Nicholson.

  • An official Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score from within the last five years.

This is only required if your cumulative undergraduate GPA is less than 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Information regrading the GMAT and GRE may be accessed on the web at http://www.gmat.org and http://www.gre.org respectively.

  • Additional requirements must be met for international students.

Students may transfer a maximum of 12 semester hours of graduate course work that directly relates to the curriculum of the MACD program. Submit the transcript, a description of the course, and a syllabus from an accredited master's program to North Park University. Transferred courses must have a grade of B or higher. The credentials examiner, in consultation with the program director, will ascertain the transferability of a course.
